Express true feelings by using body language
Language is the principal way of communication in our social lives. People can communicate with others not only through verbal communication but also through nonverbal communication that about all the things that people say and do without saying any words. in which body language plays a very important role. Basically nonverbal behaviors can be grouped into three areas: Kinesics, Proxemics and Paralanguage; and the functions they perform can be expressed in five categories.[1]
“Nonverbal communication is a process in which communicators use the natural features of their bodies to deliver information and express specific meaning instinctively to the other communicator.”[2] Body language of Nonverbal communication is a vital form of communication which is a natural, unconscious language that broadcasts our true feelings and intentions in any moment, resisting in everybody.: accenting, complementing, substituting, regulating, and contradicting.
Whether you believe or not, when you are silent, you are still communicating nonverbally. In another word, another form of communication which we all use most of the time, usually without knowing it, is the body language.
Oftentimes, what we express and what we communicate through body language are the totally different means. However, listeners seem to be interest in the nonverbal message , and, in most cases, they are prefer to believe the nonverbal when they have to make a choice, considering it a true feeling in the speaker’s heart.
Like Mr. Xu in the TV play. There are many different things in his heart, what he said didn’t conform to what he thought, such as the vase he sent after lunch. Some people may think, If everyone prefer to believe the nonverbal, why not speak out it loudly to express all the true feelings? In my opinion, It is necessary to use nonverbal communication to express some feelings vividly during information transmission and feeling exchanging. “Posture is a matter of how people sit, walk, stand and move.”[3] Such as Mrs. Xu’s face turned angry immediately when hearing the tidings, her son, Mr. Xu , slept in the home of Miss Hao. She showed the true feelings with the exchanges at her face and behavior exactly. Even though there were no words in the initial seconds, and she made effort to inhibit her awkward. After the quarrel, Miss

Hao dropped in to Mrs. Xu to restore good relations with her, as the younger generation. I can feel the embarrass Mr. Xu’s grandmother felt when seeing her granddaughter-in-law in the future, with the misunderstanding between Miss Hao and her daughter-in-law. At first, when seeing a girl standing in her house, she was smile and had a enthusiastic dialogue which the good manner to serve a stranger. However, obviously, her awkward was shown when noticing the girl in front of her was her grandson’s girlfriend, who quarreled with her daughter-in-law yesterday. Even if she said nothing until she found out the relations among all the people. The opening widely mouth, gathering eyebrows and wide eyes all expressed the true feeling in the uncomfortable occasion. That’s the typical example to prove the view----body language also can speak, and say something meticulous.
As saying goes“The eyes are the windows of the soul”.That’s to say, we can read one’s mind through his or her eyes. Eye language can express true feelings and it is an important way to judge the intimacy of communicators. In the TV play, different people have different way of seeing a man, their eyes often broadcast a signal that I hate you at the first time I saw you or I’m very willing to make friends with you because of your smart, beauty or something. But Mrs. Xu’s first impression of the Miss Hao likely to be that she is a bad girl without respect, patience and established practice. She can’t bear to have such a daughter-in-law; much less can she permits her son leaves her to Beijing after marriage. In the TV play, with the contradictory, every time the way she saw Miss Hao is unfriendly and cold. We can see the enmity in her eyes. Therefore, we know that whatever we have thought always appear in our eyes, the thing in heart is same to the thing in eyes----our “window”.
According to Chinese tradition, people’s sitting habits influent the whole environment, people who are sitting have right to take charge of others: Monarch sits and officer stands; leader sits and employee stands, father sits and son stands; and so on. So the younger give the old a seat to show respect. Without words, a behavior can reflect your quality, and the small behaviors reflect on your home education. Mr. Xu let Mr. Hao have the first seat, and he sat after all the elders all having a seat. So do Miss hao, that’s a conduct of upbringing.
What’s more, The vase he send to the Mrs. hao after lunch is the most strong identification that an object and behavior can descript one’s real feelings and meaning without any words. Setting flowers aside casually, Mrs. Hao didn’t notice the swinging

mood. But as soon as she received the vase, she realized her fault immediately, and then, she known her daughter’s boyfriend deeply, including his habits, interests and disposition, and so on. In all, It is powerful even if its nonverbal.
Actually, it is fantastic to comprehend and explore the Nonverbal communication, As a matter of fact, people often use body language in their daily life. We communicate with others nonverbally, just like with words. Few people use body language consciously, but most of them even do not realize. In the end,, What I want to say is that Nonverbal communication is a very wonderful thing and I am very willing to research and experience it. I really hope that I can accord the human body language to explore its inner world. 参考文献
