英语口语：read between lines 咬文嚼字，字里行间



1) You must read between the lines. 这句话用中文“理解”，意思就是： 1.一定要深刻领会。 2.一定要咬文嚼字。

3.一定要读出字里行间的意思。 4.一定要把文字文章读懂读透。 2) 什么叫read between the lines? Example ：

某航空公司对旅客航班出现延误时，有一段文字描述如下： At our sole discretion, we may arrange for your travel on another carrier or via ground transportation.

本公司可以安排另外一架航班或安排地面交通。对比，本公司有独家解释权(at our sole discretion)

注意其中的关键词 (may)：比如说 we may arrange other travel(本公司可以安排其它交通) 。换句话说，they don't have to(它们不是必须这么做不可)。

把这个may和have to ,must读懂，就叫做： read between the lines.

You must read between the lines if you don't want to be cheated in the contract.
