My Character

Hi everyone! I'm Henry! Today I want to share with you the formation of my character. It is well known that a person's living environment can have a profound impact on him or her. And that influence stands out in me. I was born in 2000, now I am twenty years old, coincidentally, I lived in the countryside for the first ten years, and lived in the city for the last ten years.

I was a particularly shy boy when I lived in the countryside. I would blush very quickly when I spoke to any stranger or classmates who were not close to me. During those ten years, you can almost find in me the most typical characteristics of Chinese rural children -- shy, honest, simple, and fond of silence.

But when I was ten, I came to the city. The living environment and the relationships between people here are very different from those in the countryside. There are few shy people like me in Chinese cities. To sum up my thinking in a popular Chinese Internet phrase, it is: City people really know how to play, I want to go back to the countryside. This sentence expresses the strange feeling of rural people coming to the city for the first time.

In the past ten years, from the age of 10 to 20, I have been accustomed to the life in the city, and I am no longer shy and silent. My personality is like a chemistry experiment. One bottle contained a liquid called "extreme shyness," and the other was called "hyperactivity". They happened to me in a "chemical reaction", thus shaping my current personality -- modest and cheerful.
