TodayIamverythankfulthatIamgiventhischancetogivethisspeechnamed“IAmThankful.”

In1620,thePilgrimswhosailedaboardtheMayflowersettledatPlymouth,UnitedStates,seekingabetterlifeandescapingreligiouspersecution.Theirfirstwinterwasdevastating.Theyweresick.Theywerecold.Theywerehungry.Thanksforthehelpofthenativeswhotaughtthemhowtobuildhouses,howtocatchfish,howtoplantcorns.WiththehelpoftheNativeAmericans,thepilgrimssurvivedtheharshestwinter.In1621,thepilgrimshadabountifulharvest.ToshowtheirgratitudetotheIndianswhohadhelpedthemsurvivetheirfirstyear,thepilgrimsdecidedtocelebratewithafeast.ThatwasthestoryofthefirstThanksgiving.TodayThanksgivingDayisanannualone-dayholidaytogivethanks.
