Hello,boys and girls. As we know,the English language is the most widely used language in the world.But why it is English,not chinese?Today I will give you my opinion. This may seem surprising at first.After all,the population of the United kingdom is one of the smallest in the world.But of course the UK is not the only country whose native language is English;the majority of the people in the

US,Canada,Australia and New Zealand are also native English speakers.However,if you add up the populations of these countries ,the total number only comes to be about 400 million,which is less than one third of the population of out motherland China. WHO else speaks English?Well ,if we count all the English-speakers in India,Singapore and some other

countries,that add another 700 million to the total number.So the total is more than one and a half

billion! Let"s have a look at the figure.You will find that there are more non-native English speakers than natve English speakers.Why is this?There is one important historican reason,the influence of the British Empire.the Empire used to stretched every corner of the wolrd.Although the empire no longer exists,the English language is deeply rooted in its former colonies--in Africa,India,Pakistam,New Zealand,north America and so on and so forh. Another important reason for the spread of English language is economic.English is the language of international business and commerce.It"s also the native language of the USA....SO,any country,for example,to trade with the United States,or to take advantage of its technology,must be able to operate in English.Also,most scientific technologcial developement have been made by English-speaking societies..To keep pace with such developements,to talk about it in the international conferences,or read and write them,scholars and we students must master the tool... English language is not

intrisically better than any other language in the world.To some extent.I should say that the Chinese language is much better than ENglish.....It"s modern history that made the English the dominant language nowdays..... At last,I wanna to say that we must regard English as a tool,but a way to success,,,,I mean,we shouldn"t have paid so much attention to it..There is a saying goes like this:“we are trying to learn English today,and all the other people on the earth will speak Chinese tomorrow”I wish the day will come soon.Let"s go!!!
