Rock climbing in Meteora

It is said that when touring around Greece no traveler should leave without visiting Kalambaka and the incredible monasteries in Meteora. These extraordinary buildings, perched on seemingly inaccessible pinnacles of rock, derive their name from the Greek Meteora, which simply means “rocks in the air”. Legend has it that Saint Asaph, flew up to the rocks on the back of an eagle. A more rational interpretation suggests that the villagers may have been experts at climbing. The stones that hold up these incredible rock formations were transported brick by brick by baskets and rope ladders. Inveraray Castle

Located on Loch Fyne in South Western Highlands, Inveraray Castle is very much alive. Built in 1741, it’s the ancestral home of the twelfth Duck of Argyll. Although the house is open to the public for part of the year, the Duke and Duchess live here and consider it very much of a family home. Although in historical terms, Inveraray Castle is fairly “modern”, the Duke’s family has been residing in this area for over a thousand years. His own history is all around him. The Lippizan horses

To the east of Brdapest the Bukk National Park, many magnificent Lippizan horses are bred and trained in these mountains for competitions around the world. The Lippizans have been bred in Hungary since Napoleon’s days and are famous for their skillful footwork and obedience. A group of school children are being trained for a public performance. First, it is a demonstration of total obedience, then some stunts from these tiny performers. Some of these children are as young as eight years old and yet they skillfully manage difficult maneuvers while their horse

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities

The building not to be missed in Cairo is the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. Here an array of a vast range of collection of relics covers almost every period of ancient Egyptian history. The Royal National Eisteddfod in Wales

The Welsh people are steeped in their own culture and religion, which makes them very independent. The Royal National Eisteddfod in Wales is a proof of this. It is a competitive festival of music, dance, drama, literature as well as fine art. This annual event stretches over ten days and attracts 150 thousand visitors and has evolved from the bardic tournament of the 10tn century. During these poets and musicians would compete against each other for a seat of honor in the households of noblemen. Paprika harvest

These are some red and green fields of Kalosca where the annual paprika crop is being picked. Paprika is the traditional spice of Hungary and has a reputation for curing diseases and restoring fertility. Visitors are some times invited to join in the harvest. The paprika collected here at Kalosca is sold around the world and forms a substantial part of Hungary’s export earnings. For the picker’s token effort in the fields, one of the ladies of Kalosca threads several dozen paprika plants into two necklaces to make a most unusual award to them. They’re presented with these marvelous necklaces, making this paprika picking experience an unforgettable one. 26.

The Disappeared Egyptian Queen

Legend says Egypt never produced such beauty. Her very name Nefertiti means”The Perfect One”. Her face adorned temples throughout the land, yet she disappeared from history mysteriously.
