A man from the city was driving down a country roadwhen his car stalled near a cow field.

有个城市来的人开着车徜徉在乡间小路上，经过一座母牛场的车子却抛锚了。

The driver, getting out to see what was the matter,noticed one of the cows looking at him. "I believe it'syour radiator," said the cow.

司机下车查看哪里出问题时，注意到有只母牛在看着他。“我想问题出在散热器。”那只母牛说道。

The man nearly jumped right out of his city slicker britches! He ran to a farm house andknocked on the door. "A cow just gave me advice about my car!" he shouted.

这个人差点没从身上穿的那件时髦马裤中跳出来!他跑向农舍，边敲门边大喊着：“有只母牛刚指点我车子哪里出故障!”

The farmer nonchalantly learned out beyond the doorframe to glance down the field. "The cowwith big black spots on it?" the farmer asked slowly.

农夫冷冷地靠在门框后，把农场打量了一遍。"是那只身上有两个大黑斑的母牛吗?"农夫慢悠悠问道。

"Yes! Yes! That's the one!" the excited man replied. “没错!没错!就是那只!”激动的男子回答道。

"Oh, Well. That's Ethel." the farmer said, turning back to the man. "Don't pay any attention toher. She doesn't know a thing about cars."


“哎呀，那是艾瑟儿啦，”农夫转头对那人说道：“不要理她，她对车子根本一窍不通。”

Farmer John was suing a trucking company forinjuries sustained in an accident. The company'slawyer was questioning John.

"Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'mfine?'" said the lawyer.

Farmer John responded, "Well, I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite muleBessie into the..."

The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Judge, I am trying to establish the fact that, at thescene of the accident, this man told the police officer that he was just fine.

律师打断说：“法官大人，我只是想证明一件事情，就是这个人曾在车祸现场告诉警察他没事。”

"Now several weeks later, he is suing my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simplyanswer the question."

“现在几个月过去了，他却控告我的当事人，我认为有诈骗的嫌疑。请法官叫原告直接回答问题。”

But the Judge was interested in Farmer John's story and said, "I'd like to hear what he has tosay about his mule Bessie."

不过法官对农夫的说辞很感兴趣，于是说：“我想听听他对骡子贝西怎么说。”

John proceeded, "Well as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my favorite mule, into thetrailer and was driving her down
