Since ancient times, our oldest poetry literary collection ‘Book of Songs’ have received high and prolonged praise. It includes 305 songs and every song is colorful. There are a lot of love poetries in the ‘Book of Songs’, among which are many poems describing women. In the long river of history, these women always remained shining bright images, who are the excellent representatives of our ancient Chinese women. The ‘Book of Songs’ depicts the image of Chinese women, which still set a good example in today’s society.

Reading of the love poems in the ‘Book of Songs’ from the perspective of literary, we can view the feudal etiquette in the initial stage of it’s formation. Men and women’ intercourse in the Zhou Dynasty shows us the most primitive and true pictures of life. These love poems fully express ancient Chinese people’ respect for human life and fanatical pursuit of personal value. The ‘Book of songs’ portrayed a variety


of female images. Some of them are naive and innocent girls; some of them them are grief and charming women; some of them are passionate and unshaken women; some of them are weak, infatuated and submissive women; some of them are bold, enthusiasm and forthright women; some of them are anxious and paranoid, gentle and timid women. In the following passage, i will give the deep analysis of love poems which are interwoven in the ‘Book of Songs’ to show the different kinds of women images of Zhou Dynasty and to make people know the standard that the Zhou Dynasty measured women and women’s psychological orientation. Last but not least, there are discussions of these women’s positive influence on the posterity.
