It was Emma's birthday. She was so excited that she woke up early in the morning. She put on her new dress that her grandma gave her and smiled at her reflection in the mirror. Just then, the doorbell rang. It was Emma's friends who had come to wish her a happy birthday. But they didn't just come to say "Happy Birthday"! They were bearing gifts - a big cake, some balloons, and a stuffed animal. Emma was delighted! The friends sang a birthday song, and even her parents joined in. Then they cut the cake, took photos and played games together. Everyone had so much fun that they hardly noticed the time passing. Before long it was time for them to go home. Emma's friends hugged her goodbye and said, "Have a wonderful

birthday Emma!" On the way out, each one of them picked up a helium balloon and waved goodbye. As Emma waved back, watching her friends leave, she felt so lucky and grateful to have such good friends. She knew that this was bound to be an unforgettable birthday for her. Emma skipped back into the house and flopped down in the living room. She remembered what her friends had originally given her. After all, they had left her with more than just presents and balloons - they had left her with lots of precious memories too.
