1. 通过环境渲染：

The front steps to the doorway of the house creaked（吱嘎作响）, so did the porch when they stepped onto it. The place was in a total mess, covered with dust, sand, dead leaves and overturned furniture.

I can feel the sweat drench（使湿透） my skin, the throbbing（跳动，颤动） of my own eyes, the ringing screams vibrating（振动） in my ears, and the thumping(心脏急速跳动) of my heart against my chest. Fear tortures my guts, churning my stomach（反胃，恶心） in tense cramps（绞痛）. Fear engulfs（淹没，吞没） my conscience, knocking all other thoughts aside. Fear overwhelms（压倒，征服） my body, making it drastically exhausted.

Cathy stayed hidden within the darkness, feeling every beat of her heart pounding on the cold stone she lay upon.

Each second seemed to last an eternity（长久） as she lay perfectly still listening to the footsteps of the intruder(入侵者), which had muted（减轻） the pounding of her pulse.
