The Differences and Similarities between China and Western countries

Culture difference and Similarities:Diet Values Etiquette Mythology Festival

Diet:First,when people get together,the westerners pay more attention to personal independence,as opposed to the westerners,chinese people like to sitting around a large table,eating and chatting a lot.The different tableware : chopsticks and knife and fork,I think, lead to two different ways of life and represent two different wisdom.As to the food, compared with the "flavor" that the Chinese pay attention to,the western has a rational concept. Food no matter the colour, smell,taste and shape, nutrition is the most important.While in china,”we are what we eat”many materials, even those that foreign chef think of no use,can be wonderful in a chinese chef’s hands.

Values:There are many different concepts in twoCultures.For example, the westerners are self-centered,they have a strong sense ofindependence:be responsible for their ownnot used to care for others accepting help only proves their incompetence, and the initiative(主动) to help others will be considered as interference in private affairs of others.While in China , on the contrary,“whetherit is useful to others or the society”is the standard: selfless devotionthe initiative to care for others is a virtue(美德)no matter what are the problems about,they are willing to take the initiative to help, while in the West they would be


told"Mind your own business."

Etiquette:Today, etiquette become the reflection and manifestation of one country’s politics, economy, culture in people’s social contact. And it include the principal(本金的) and moral(道德上的)that people should obey in daily life. Etiquette formed in the process of the deposition of culture and social contact. So every nation have their own etiquette standard which created with the spirit of this their nation.

Mythology:Chinese mythology is very fragmentary(零散), while Greek mythology has a strict system,The main god Zeus；Hera days later； Vulcan Huai He Bustos；the sun god Apollo；the moon Artemis；the god of war Ares；Athena, goddess of wisdom, talent； the United States god Eros Aphrodite (Venus)„„they represent almost all of the properties of nature.
