阅读课文

新概念的课文多以故事呈现，趣味性强，而且难度层层递进，很适

合用来做阅读材料。

推举多次阅读，熟识文章，培育语感。

如第二册的Lesson 15——Good News，深谙反转的魅力，短短几

句描述出“我”忐忑——绝望——惊喜的心情转变。

The secretary told me that Mr. Harmsworth would see me. I felt

very nervous when I went into his office.

He did not look up from his desk when I entered. After I had sat down, he said that business was very bad.

He told me that the firm could not afford to pay such large

salaries. Twenty people had already left. I knew that my turn

had come.

Mr.Harmsworth, I said in a weak voice.

Dont interrupt, he said.

Then he smiled and told me I would receive an extra thousand

pounds a year!

单词解析

新概念里出现的单词都是最基本常用的词汇，有用且重要，确定

secretary [sekrtri]起源于拉丁语，发音略难。记忆secretary可以联系secret(隐秘)这个词。

身为秘书，接触公司的各项事务，自然能了解到不少隐秘。 nervous：adj. 焦虑的，紧急的

像许多学生考试前总会很紧急，就可以说Examinations make me nervous.

关联词语：irritable adj. 易怒的

He is such an irritable person, you can hardly speak to him. look up：抬头看，向上看;查阅

look the word up in the dictionary 查字典 when I entered=when I went into his office afford：

1. v. 买得起(常与can/cant连用)

I cant afford the apartment.(房价逆天了…)

such adj. 如此的，这样的`(修饰名词)，名词前可加形容词。 such a cute baby ;such good news so adj.如此的，这样的(修饰形容词/副词)

当名词前用many/much修饰时，前面用so，而非such 例如：so many people turn n. 轮番，轮班 Its your turn. 轮到你了。 in a… voice 表示用……的声音 in a loud/low voice

interrupt v. 打断，停止 You interrupted my thoughs.
