We Don’t Rely Too Much on Technology

Technology is developing in acceleration. Some may say that people nowadays depend too much on technology. However, I am strongly opposed to this point of view.



First of all, technology is originated from our need. There is no denying that technology has existed in human history thousands of years ago. The story of Prometheus’ stealing fire for human is sure only a myth. But the technology of lighting fire, is invented to heat food so as to prolong human’s life. Our ancestors used flints at first; then lighters were invented; then gas stove maybe; and now

electromagnetic, microwave oven have somehow taken the place of fire in the role of heating food. Those who think people rely too much on technology, do they mean we have to go back to ancient time and eat raw meat with bare hands?



Secondly, I think it merely a stereotype to say people depend too much on technology. For instance, if I can do my English listening practice on my portable MP3, why bother to carry a heavy tape recorder? Actually, technology save our time so that we can afford to do many other things. Those who are against “too much” use on technology, I suppose, they have just fixed their eyes on the side effects and a minority of people.



All in all, I don’t think it wise to resist the advancement and use of technology.
